Who’da thought?

Random ‘Me’ Trivia: I was raised Mormon. Mom stopped fighting to take me to church when I resorted to wearing slutty outfits, therefore causing the church ladies tongues to wag, therefore causing my mother embarassment. Really though, what could be more embarassing than being associated with the Mormon church? Other than maybe Scientology, and in my opinion any religion at all, but whatever.

At least these people aren’t total douche bags, considering the apparent massive support of the Mormon church to ban gay marriage.

Former 49ers quarterback, Steve Young, the great-great-great grandson of Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon church has supported the fight against H8te.

He is going against his church, that’s a true maverick!

According to reports, there are NO to 8 signs posted in front of his fancy San Francisco-area home and his wife, Barbara, has donated $50,000 to defeat the hate-filled proposition.

Mrs. Young initially issued this statement regarding the family’s stand on 8:

“We believe ALL families matter and we do not believe in discrimination, therefore, our family will vote against Prop. 8.”

However, she later clarified her remarks with an updated statement:

“To expand on my earlier email, I am very passionate about this issue and Steve is completely supportive of me and my work for equality. We both love our Church and are grateful that our Church encourages us to vote our conscience. Steve prefers not to get involved politically on any issue no matter what the cause and therefore makes no endorsement.”

We salute you, Barbara Young!
